  Mission Reuse ran a pilot in the Netherlands, and investigated developments in the European market. Insights from several pilots, reuse solutions and research projects are combined, giving an overview of packaging types, return systems, technology, return incentives, business models and logistical solutions. 

  
  

  
  

  Our main findings include:

  
  

• E-commerce customers are ready for reusable packaging

• European pilots can inspire the way forward

• High return costs are currently the biggest barrier have to drop to enable convenience and scale

• The report provides some recommendations for scaling up and enabling customer convenience the use of reusable packaging for e-commerce players, reuse innovators, policy makers and future pilots
